Still Running

Don't thing that I have stopped running since you haven't heard about it. I am still out there trying to run my best, but instead of it getting easier, it is getting harder. The more I run the more tired I am. The more I walk, the more it hurts. But I am still out there giving it my best. From what I read, my body is trying to throw up the running. Hopefully after a few more weeks, I'll be better then ever!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

It's that time of year. Turkeys are in the oven, the Wizard Of Oz is on five television channels, and our families are just about on our last nerves. But this is Thanksgiving! What else do you expect? Enjoy your turkeys, love your family, and think of watching the Wizard Of Oz to the Dark Side of the Moon. You'll have a whole new prospective on life and doing acid.

Happy Gobble Day!

Amazing WHAM Weekend

A Punkin Card Company was out this past weekend was the WHAM, Winter Holiday Arts Market, handmade and fine arts market. It was an amazing turnout. The first night, Friday, was the opening night plus cocktail reception. Lots of people but most importantly, lots of shoppers! I was afraid I was going to run out of merchandise.

The second day, Saturday, was an all day event. There were shoppers from 11am to 8pm, all ready ti support artists and handmade goods. I sold 1/2 of my entire inventory and the Holiday cards were almost gone.

It was great to see some familiar faces and meet some really great new friends. Hello Lucky was out, so was Feto Soap, and Apt 3305. All great handmade businesses supporting Houston!

Running Break

Today I am going to try running again. After talking with some friends, a guy who works at a running store, and reading all I can read about shin splints, I am going to give it another shot. From what I have found out, it's beginner's pains and I need to stretch some more before we run. Also, concrete versus ground does not seem to make a difference.
I am also going to exercise on our elliptical machine twice a week for 20 minutes each time. I love this machine. No impact and I can sing as loud as I want!! Plus, I am hoping this gives me the weight loss boost that I need. Seems like the cruise we just took has caught up with me. Also, Yoga twice a week. think that is enough?

What are your exercise tips?

God Bless America

Hurray! Today is Veteran's Day.
I know some people argue about pulling out of the Middle East or bringing the troops home. Wondering what Prez Obama will do next. Higher taxes? Health care? Socialism? People, for this wonderful day honoring our Armed Forces, please keep this in mind: These brave and selfless men and women have sacrificed their lives to protect yours. It doesn't matter if you are Left or Right, Black or Asian, polka dotted with a lazy eye, we need to give these people our respect.
When was the last time you sacrificed yourself for the good of others? When was the last time you took a bullet for a fellow human being? When was the last time you stopped and thought about what it takes to be an American?
I am not saying we should all agree, that is not the American spirit, what I am saying is we should all respect. Do something good for an American or Veteran today. Donate your time, call your loved ones, and remeber the fighting past their brave men and women fought for. Because if we do not remeber the past, we are doomed to repeat it.

Happy Veteran's Day!!

Running Day 3

Friday was my 3rd running day and I have to say it was uneventful. We went running in the midmorning which was a bad idea. It was already too hot! Then after two 1 minute full runs my shins started throbbing again. Not really sure what to do that this point. So we walked the rest of the way home and I rested my legs.

Sorry, not much to say today (that rhymed!)

Running Day 2

My second day of running was on Wednesday, but at night. My hubby had to go to work early that morning and there was NO way I was going to run at 6am! So we trekked out at 9pm to do our normal run. I am happy to say I have my breathing under control but now I am dealing with the pain in my legs. Specifically my shins. They hurt like a mofo. I am not sure if I am running properly or if it's just too much too fast but the pain is really getting to me. It was mostly at the end of my run and went away as soon as I got home and rested. So, if there is any running advice out there, shoot it my way!

On a APCC side note, tomorrow is the First Saturday Arts Market in the Heights, Houston, Texas. I invite everyone to come and and support art and handmade artists in Houston. The show will start early this time, at 10am until 6pm. There will be fun, food, and live music!!
Plus, you can hangout with me and some of the Etsy Houston artists, for free! Buying handmade goodies is recommended :)

On Thursday, October 22nd Sarah, owner of Sew Crafty hosted a VIP party for employees, family, and close friends. Honestly, I had a blast! I love the Heights and it is in my favorite Heights location, 19th Street!

The First Day of Running

Wow, vacation was amazing. It was great to get away and relax in the warm tropical sun. I hope you enjoyed some of the posts over the last week. I'll be posting pictures from the trip and Halloween party this week.
Today starts my first day of running training. I am not running for a 5k, 10k, or triathlon but I am running to do something for myself and my health. I could stand to loose about 20 lbs. and I know I need to move more. So this is the perfect opportunity to do so. My husband and I are doing the Couch to 5K program.  It's a great guide to folllow if you are a first time running, like me, or someone who hasn't run in ages. I'll keep you updated on my process both good and bad, and how I feel the program helps. I encourge you all to run along with me. You can run in your house, neighborhood, or city locations and keep track on your own blog. Also, send me your stats, results, pros and cons. That way we keep eachother accountable!

Have a great day everyone and check back for more pictures from the vacation!
