Baby Anne Quilts

Heather creates her baby, toddler and doll quilts for Baby Anne Quilts in her home on the edge of the Black Forest in south-western Germany. She machine-pieces her quilts but she takes the time to hand-quilt everything she makes. It's her favorite part of the process and she also loves the hand-touched quality it gives her work. Opening up Baby Anne Quilts has given Heather the opportunity to start designing her own patterns, creating not just hand-touched but wholly unique quilts.

Heather began quilting in early 2005. Her job at the time was was creating a lot of stress and her husband begged her to find a hobby as stress relief. She holds an Art History degree and so her initial attraction to quilting was the craft's place in American history. But once she began quilting, she realized that what she was making would become part of the personal history of a family...and that's what kept her quilting! Not only does the craft have a rich history on its own, but each individual quilt has its own story to tell. Heather says, "I love the idea that I am not just creating something beautiful to looked at, but also something to be used and loved, something that can become part of a family's history."
