Owner, Julie attended York University in Toronto and the University of Leeds in England, earning a BFA in Visual Arts, with a specialty in sculpture. She currently lives in Toronto with her husband and two budgies (also known as parakeets). Her secondary passion is teaching. She is an elementary school librarian and an english as a second language teacher. After making a tiara for her own wedding in 2002, she decided that the cost of wedding jewelry was unnecessarily exorbitant, given the poor quality of the materials and workmanship. She therefore pursued a course in entrepreneurship and small business management at York University. A few years after preparing a business plan for Glow Tiaras she finally opened her Etsy shop! Creating wedding tiaras and jewelry are amongst her other crafting hobbies, which include (but are not limited to) acrylic painting, stone carving, photography, ceramic arts, printmaking, and scrapbooking.
