Sara Kate
Sarakate's name is, surprise, Sara Kate. She is a 27 years old who by day works for an online media outlet in Cleveland. By night she is a sewing machine! It all started when she was 7 or 8 years old and her mom taught her how to sew on a vintage sewing machine. Sara Kate made the occasional lopsided pillow or repaired torn jeans, but did not fall in love with sewing until she got her very own sewing machine as a gift her freshman year of college. It was not something Sara Kate thought she needed, but now she cannot imagine her life without it!
About 6 months ago, Sara Kate and her sister designed a bag to hold all of the traveling needs of a new puppy (food, treats, toys, etc.). The bag turned out so nice that she ran with the idea and started making purses for herself. Sara Kate says, "I kept getting so many compliments on them, I realized I could turn it into a side business." In April ’07, “Sara Kate” the shop was born.
Everything you see in her shop is a true reflection of Sara Kate. There is not a single item in the shop that she would not personally use. She wants accessories that can go to the office, a night club and then the grocery store without missing a beat. Clean lines paired with beautiful fabrics makes her design philosophy simple and classic. You won’t find any of that uber-trendy stuff in her shop, she wants her customers to be able to get some mileage out of their purchases.
